Dancing has a broad range of health benefits. It has been demonstrated to be clinically effective at improving body image, self-esteem, attentiveness, and communication skills. It can also reduce stress, fears and anxieties, as well as lessen feelings of isolation, body tension, chronic pain, and depression. In addition it can enhance the functioning of the body’s circulatory and respiratory systems. Here at Tap Fever Studios we try our best to integrate students with disabilities into our scheduled classes, and offer private lessons for those who choose more individualized instruction.
For groups of students with limited mobility, we offer two fun options for dance classes that can take place at our facility, or yours.
Handy Tap is an innovative seated dance class for all ages. Gloves are outfitted with metal taps (like on tap shoes). When you strike the wooden board on your lap, great music is made! The San Diego Community Newspaper Group wrote a fantastic article about Handy Tap that was published in December 2012. Read it here
Jazzy Hands is a footloose and fancy free dance class that’s done while in a chair. Whimsical dance moves are done to fun music, and are easy to follow. This class is exciting for all ages!
The subsidized rate for an hour workshops is $45.
