The following are applications submitted for dance scholarships:
“The advantages of basic fitness for both physical and mental health have been researched and proven many times. Physical exercise is also just plain fun, especially when done in a group setting. The classes at Tap Fever offer this opportunity to try different types of dance for fitness. While my request for a scholarship is more driven by a self-imposed budget limit than need-based, I hope it will be considered for approval. Thank you for offering an alternative to the “factory-type” 24 hr. fitness clubs!” -female adult
“I love tap! Best memories are taking tap when I was 12. Took it with my sister at Alice Birney School, here in San Diego. I have my own business. I’m an artist and wear all the hats and am always on a budget as the $$ I do spend goes towards keeping the business going. I work by myself & live by myself so having a tap scholarship would really motivate me to get out and exercise & socialize— which would be great in contributing to my physical & spiritual health. It’s hard to justify spending $ on yourself or leaving the house, with a business etc. Thanks for the consideration. I enjoyed the $5 special class offerings with my friends. Tap Fever has such great energy! I’d like to join my friends!” -female adult
“Why do I want to continue dancing at Tap Fever? Because Tap Fever is my favorite dance class and I want to learn new dance steps. Whys my favorite thing is to dance. Dancing makes me feel great! Miss Larisa and Miss Jayme are the best teachers in the whole wide world. They teach me shuffles and shuffles are great dance moves and I just love the name. If I can’t dance at Tap Fever it will make me feel bad. Why if I’m not going to dance at Tap Fever we won’t have any more dance class to go to.” -female age 3
“My name is Scotty, I’m 8 years old and have been dancing since I was 2½. I love dance! Any kind of dance. I’ve done tap, clog, jazz, lyrical jazz, hip-hop, hula, Tahitian, ballet and tumbling. I love to perform and make people smile when I dance. It’s just in my heart and soul and I want to grow as a dancer and performer. I know it takes hard work and dedication. I enjoy singing, theater and acting. I just want to be out there enjoying life and through the arts and great people like you I can.” -male age 8
“January 2009 I became unemployed and have been unable to find work since then. Unfortunately, due to budgetary constraints, I’ve had to eliminate all leisure/recreational activities – one of which was dance class. This scholarship will benefit me both physically and emotionally. Physically it will get me out of the house and provide me with a fun way to get exercise. Emotionally my morale will be lifted – not only from the physical activity- But also through meeting new people and just plain old human contact – something I get very little of since my job loss. Thank you for your consideration.” -female adult
