I was looking for an adult rhythmic tap class in SD, which is very difficult to find anywhere, but I found the perfect place! I had not tap danced since I was a child but I found many of my classmates were in the same boat. I have improved immensely and it is fantastic fun.
I like that the studio is also a nonprofit studio providing adaptive programs for people with special needs, scholarships, and discounts for students and military. Bottom line, if you want to dance, come! If you have something hindering you from dancing, talk to them. They will probably be able to figure out a way to make it happen!
There IS a private parking lot and, if you are like me, that is very important!

I've taken the cardio tap dance and it is definitely an experience. It is a fun workout to mix up the standard cardio exercises. A judgement free zone, it is comfortable and fun, but the instructor moves very quickly and doesn't really explain any of the moves. However, no one cares that you are bad and you are definitely still getting your heart rate up. The hour long class flew by and the songs are top 40 hits everyone knows. I recommend this to just about anyone, but don't expect to learn proper tap skills.

If I could, I'd give this studio 7 stars! The perfect studio for every body! I mean that: Every. Body. Larissa has created a welcoming studio that is about dance, fun, and fitness. I came to tap late in life, and every one of her instructors is kind and encouraging. That sets the tone for the class members being that way. It is always a fun time. Don't give it another thought - just go dance.

I've participated in many dance studios and Tap Fever is definitely the best. Individual attention during classes is the norm. The instructors are skilled in teaching how to memorize dance pieces. Level-appropriate basics are covered well in classes, and then augmented by challenge pieces, for fun. The instructors are all warm, friendly, and energetic.
The studio has ample air flow from 3 sides along with several fans to enhance the flow for times when there are pandemic concerns. I used to have to wear knee braces all the time at a previous dance studio. I found I could stop after dancing for some time at Tap Fever. I'm pretty sure it's the floor flexibility that has made the difference for me. The studio is aesthetically lovely too.

UPDATED 9/30/16: It's been 4-1/2 years since I wrote the following review, and I'm still dancing at Tap Fever. They've now moved to a Pacific Beach location not far from the freeway, so it's more convenient to students coming from all over the county. Plus, it has plenty of parking.
I joined one of their dance teams, and it's been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Not only am I staying fit, but I'm having a blast with this group!
Over the years, I've been consistently impressed by the quality, skill and good nature of the dance instructors who teach the various classes. The thing that impresses me most, though, is the friendly environment. There's a camaraderie here that I've never experienced at any other dance studio, and that just adds to the fun!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is a great dance studio with so many kinds of classes, there's something for everyone. The studio is wide open and spacious, so the sessions never seem too crowded.
I've taken several kinds of classes there, and all the teachers are top notch. Larisa, who runs the studio, is a very good dancer and choreographer. She chooses fun songs and great costumes for the school performances which are open to anyone who wants to participate.
I've been dancing all my life, and I have to say Tap Fever's "Burlesque" class is the most fun I've ever had in a dance class!

I bought a ReaderCity deal for four fitness classes at Tap Fever. I've been to the Thursday night Zumba class with Cara and tonight I took the Cardio Hip Hop class with JJ. The Zumba class was a lot of fun and they played good music. The Cardio Hip Hop class with JJ was awesome too. He's really cool and made me feel comfortable very quickly, even though I'm a terrible dancer and have zero rhythm. My only complaint is that I wish the Zumba class and Cardio Hip Hop class were offered on more than one night a week. Even if you have no dance experience, give these classes a try. They're fun and you'll work up a sweat.

I love Tap Fever because it has so many options to choose from. I've seen Malorie, one of the dance instructors, teach tap and ballet with young children and I like how she's so enthusiastic, playing Frozen songs along the dance routines and motivating the kids. Every time I come in, there's a group of moms happy to watch their children dance. The studio has got programs for all ages - and I think it's great that they really emphasize that by having accessible classes for people with any kind of disabilities, too. They also got hip hop, jazz and ballet classes and even fitness-dance classes like Cardio Tap, yoga, and Zumba. I'd recommend contacting Larisa since she's really knowledgeable and welcoming. It's so much fun doing these dance classes to try something new.

This is a family type studio; small classes where you feel comfortable asking questions, you get answers, and actually learn. This is a non-profit organization, so you can feel good knowing that Tap Fever Studios helps the community by offering programs for dancers with disabilities, and dance scholarships. Dancers also have the opportunity to advance and join dance teams that perform in the community, and go to dance competitions. The best part is that you can tell the teachers really love teaching dance and really love their students.

I have been dancing with Tap Fever Studios for a month, and have only good things to say about them! I love that they offer classes in all dance styles: tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop AND fitness classes (cardio tap and dancer flow yoga). They are also all-inclusive, offering classes for everybody from 2 year olds, to seniors, to people with disabilities. The teachers at Tap Fever are very passionate about dancing, and just want to share that with everybody, regardless of age or ability. Speaking of the teachers, they are all fun, kind, and work hard to make the classes upbeat and engaging. I am taking the Adult Intermediate Tap class, and Larisa (the teacher and studio director) is very encouraging and pushes us to challenge ourselves in a fun and safe environment. Another class I have been taking that I love is the Cardio Tap class. These are offered multiple times per week, in both the daytime and evening, which is so great for those of us with busy schedules. If you are looking for a fun way to get some exercise, this is the class for you. It is structured like a Zumba class, with the teacher leading you through set dances to upbeat music. Though these classes definitely make me sweat, they are always filled with smiles, laughter, and a lot of great jamming out. Overall, Tap Fever is a well-run, supportive studio, and I would encourage anybody (regardless of previous dance experience) to take classes here.

My daughter has been taking classes from Tap Fever (Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap and Ballet) for almost a year and a half. Because of the wonderful instructors my daughter has fallen in love with Dance - THANK YOU! In that time my daughter has performed at recitals, competitions, senior homes and special events. At only her second competition she took First Place with a wonderful performance choreographed my Mariah (Instructor) and placed in her last three competitions. She has made great friends and the girls are so close you would think they are sisters. As a DANCE DAD I though I might feel awkward with all those Dance Moms here. But, that was not the story. Now, many of those Dance Moms are friends with both my wife and I. Thank you to all the staff at Tap Fever. You bring a smile from ear to ear on my daughters face.

I love love LOVE this studio! So big and spacious, and everyone there is so friendly! The owner is kind and helpful to everyone, JJ is so funny and easy going- I love taking his class, and Mariah is so skilled and lighthearted, the kids adore her! This is an amazing studio. They even offer a free week at the beginning of each session so you can try every class they offer and see which one(s) you want to take! I never thought I would be tap dancing, but the cardio tap class is a great workout and really fun! I'm also taking ballet with Mariah, and hip hop with JJ, and my son takes classes there too. I am so glad I found it!
