Yes, We’ve Moved
Tap Fever Studios first opened April 1, 2008 in the basement suite of 7301 Girard Street in La Jolla. After a short time we were lucky enough to find the wonderful community of Bird Rock a couple miles down the road and we relocated to (the above ground location) 5628 La Jolla Boulevard. We stayed there for about 3½ years, then found a larger home at 683 Turquoise Street. We stayed on Turquoise Street for about 2½ years, and it was great, aside from parking challenges and accessibility from the freeway. We are now location at 2180 Garnet Avenue #1F in Pacific Beach. Here we have a 660 sqft dance floor, a generous reception area, and plenty of parking with a lots on the west side of the building and another in the rear of the building, as well as ample street parking. We’ve got a long lease and hope to stay here for a very long time!
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we grant dance scholarships, offer accessible dance classes, and have built a strong bond with our community. We want to make sure that everyone who has the desire to dance is given an opportunity. Contributions to Tap Fever Studios go toward the expansion of our special programs and outreach.
Why We’re Different
Tap Fever Studios is different than any other dance studio you’ll find in San Diego for many reasons.
- We are non-profit and work hard to support the communities in and around Pacific Beach, La Jolla, Clairemont, and San Diego. We help remove the obstacles that may prevent someone from dancing by offering dance scholarships and dance opportunities for people with disabilities.
- We have a strong focus on tap dance. We have more opportunities to stomp the floor than anywhere else in all of San Diego County. To compliment our focus on tap, we also offer: ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, and jazz. We even have daytime dance classes!
- In addition to dance classes, we also offer dance-styled (Zumba-inspired) Cardio Tap fitness classes.
- We offer dance classes for all, starting at age 2. We have dance classes for children, teens, adults, and senior citizens.
Tap Fever Studios is a non-profit dance school that has something for everyone! With an array of classes that complement our focus on tap dance, people from all walks of life learn how to mobilize the rhythm from their hearts. Students are offered a strong foundation through fun & dynamic classes that accelerate basic skills into fantastic moves. All the major disciplines are represented: tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, and partner dancing. We also offer dance fitness classes. Our programs provide accessible classes for people with disabilities, scholarships, and leadership mentoring for teens!
All of Tap Fever’s staff provide structured classes, abide by the same policies and work ethics, and have welcoming personalities that make all classes comfortable and fun! They teach challenging technique while making sure the students enjoy the process. This is what draws dance lovers from all over San Diego County to Tap Fever Studios.
Tap Fever’s main goals are to provide opportunities to anyone with the desire to dance, and to make it a dance a positive experience for all. Here at Tap Fever Studios we believe that students, regardless of ability, should be integrated into our scheduled classes.
We have many opportunities for students with special needs to join classes (with an assistant if needed) as well as the option to hold private classes or workshops for a group that wishes to dance together.
We support our community by offering scholarships and accessible classes, producing entertaining shows, and lending a hand to other causes by way of gift card donations and/or free performances. Our programs provide enriching extracurricular opportunities for students to get great exercise while learning about the wonderful art of dance!
Tap Fever continually strives to prove their message, “Anyone can dance if given the chance!”
